The Introduction to Deep Ecology workshop with Om Sunisa Jamwiset Deiters is one of the sessions on the cultural dimension of the ReGEN-Nations Program.
Join us for a session on Deep Ecology, a philosophy and lifestyle that inspires us to reconnect back to nature. This session is for those interested in engaging nature-based principles and practices to transform the way we design our personal way of life and the solutions we design with communities.
Generating a culture for sustainability can not come from a superficial level, but from the depth of our spirit. Hence, what we are doing is setting the ways of life for many generations to follow, not like a trend that exists only for a short period.
When we look into generating, regenerating, or redesign our culture we have to go into our spirit asking deep questions of who we are on this earth? what this Earth means to us and what do we mean to this Earth? why we are here on earth and what does it mean to be here?…
Deep Ecology encourages us to ask deeper questions, combining with deep experience, it emerges deep commitment where our actions and way of thinking and living spring off from that deep root.

- Trainer: Om Sunisa Jamwiset Deiters
Sunisa Jamwiset Deiters (Om) is the co-founder of Gaia Ashram, a learning center based in Deep Ecology philosophy, which Om discovered aligns with Buddhist teachings and resonates with her nature and her spirit most. She learned The Works that Reconnect processes and started facilitating Deep Ecology workshops since 2010. In her early years, she designed a process work based on Deep Ecology to facilitate NextGEN groups in Asia countries such as Thailand, Srilanka, India, South Korea and China. Nowadays her groups expand to a wider audience including educators, NGO workers and those who are in transition of shifting lives to one that connects better with the earth. Om is passionate about regenerating a culture of deep connection with the earth and the interconnectedness of all beings. Om, her partner and team are experiencing this at Gaia Ashram in the northeast of Thailand.
We try to have course fees that are sensitive to economic inequalities and disparities in monetary wealth. We aim to have prices that support both what we do and people’s ability to access it. We have a tiered pricing system, asking you to pay what is right for your level of financial resources.
- Regular price: $20 USD
- Low income, students, unemployed: $10 USD
- High income or access: $30 USD
- Sponsorship rate – includes a donation to GENOA, enabling us to keep prices low for others: $40 USD.
We are aware that these fees might still be high for some, and do not want finances to stand in the way of learning. We are happy to offer a discounted scholarship rate – please write to us at [email protected] to apply.
